Mirror Worlds is the brainchild of joint Fabio and soul and from their experience daily contact with the local immigration world, perceived by the insider perspective that can deliver their roles of researcher and mediator. Anyone who knows Soulé is fascinated by the story of the history of its migration that has taken him from Africa in Biella. But what is most striking is its ability to restore the image of the world that he met with language, and fun that shines through all the wonder he felt as curiously behaviors unusual. His surprise soon turns to the listener because of a sudden new light thrown on habitual behavior, the result of consolidated balances, but now perceived by a new perspective, in some cases stripped bare. We thought it would be interesting to develop the metaphor of the mirror that had already taken shape, seeking out unusual immigration stories to tell, describe, and find in them food for thought. With the invaluable assistance of Silvia, graduating in intercultural communication, and two visual artists, film director and photographer Gigi Piana Nicoletta Lupi, the idea has become a structured project, which was made possible by financial support of several institutions that have proposta.Mondi believed in the power of the mirror is proposed as a creative interpretation of some aspects of migration operates in three different ways realized: a video documentary, a collection of photographs and a text which are of anthropological tried to capture, in a complementary manner, 'the worlds migrants' from a creative perspective, able to think of other worlds and explicit meanings latenti.Il pamphlet, in particular, stands as a free set of reflections, which rises from the conversation between the authors of the project and its protagonists, who are rendered, in the metaphor, to act as a mirror, so that we could take in their daily lives and in their our own, unique aspects, curious, light or difficult to develop opportunities for reflection, taking advantage of the ability to reflect value that is common to both the mirror of the mind. The fragments, indicating a process of reflection is not systematic, but nevertheless ordered, like fragments of a mirror which, although lacking wholeness, continue to reflect particular aspects in a clear and partial, without necessarily wanting to take a picture. Opportunity to meet, study and riflessione.Il first fragment is dedicated to meeting the Tamil people from Sri Lanka and now in the Biellese especially in the immediate vicinity of Trivero. It seemed important to describe their migration experience inextricably linked, at least originally, the serious political and social disorder which is found their home country. The strong sense of identity that pervades the whole community has made us believe it appropriate to propose a brief reflection on our sense of belonging, especially on the concept of national identity. The second piece concerns a group of friends, mostly Pakistanis, but also Sri Lankan Sinhalese, who share a passion for cricket. Every Sunday, meet at a yard wide and desolate, unused solely responsible for the weekend to accommodate the market during some weekdays, which suddenly found for a few hours Sunday afternoon to accommodate the intense Anglo-Saxon part of the sport. The discussion that follows, in this case relates to the use of space and some of its meanings related to different modes occupazione.Il third fragment, completed operations, concerns the visit we made some acquaintances in Africa: Pierre and his daughter Desiré Côte d'Ivoire and soul of Comoros Islands, which have revealed some of their concerns and anxieties about our ways of doing things, especially about the way we manage human relationships, which they say maybe 'do not add up' at all. In this case the mirror was funny and pitiful at the same time, sometimes excessively distorting, but the reflection was, for once, immediately and explicitly granting the imaginative little research of latent meanings.
> Introduction
familiarity breeds indifference. This is one of the fundamental assertions that is inspired by cultural anthropology, a discipline that is otherness (the other) and cultural diversity, its preferred (but not exclusive) object of study. In compliance with this rule, anthropologists have embarked on journeys to the farthest "corners of the world" where the experience of diversity could be more marked and highlighted the lack of familiarity that makes us indifferent to the meanings of their practices and customs, celandone deeper meaning. As Todorov has observed: 'to get the required displacement, we must learn to detach themselves, to distance themselves from their habits to see how the outside'. Today, to gain experience of otherness is no longer necessary to undertake long voyages because the contemporary world has generated large diasporas, movements and migrations that have accelerated the phenomenon of cultural mingling, making the daily experience of diversity. The relationship with the otherness provides us with the necessary alienation, the ability to ask about ourselves, our habits, our membership, who are to be reflected in practices of others as a mirror that creates moments of wonder, curiosity or repulsion. Sayad was also referred explicitly to the 'mirror function' of immigration, that 'it is a privileged opportunity to make clear what is latent in the constitution and functioning of a social order, of what is usually hidden in the unconscious social and therefore voted to stay in the shadows, the rule of secret or social thought '. Think about it.
> Afterword
The project has pledged its authors and challenged the patience of his players for about a year. The hope is to be able to seize the main objective of the project by providing a creative contribution to the knowledge of the migratory phenomenon favoring the local perspective that identifies migrants as subjects who give voice rather than understanding them simply as objects of even basic administrative or management of 'statistical analysis which often reduce the migration of its one-dimensional numerical. Behind the dry statistics of the numbers are faces, people and life projects whose description can help make explicit the cultural aspects relevant to for a better understanding of the complex social fabric. In addition to the stated purposes, the Mirror Worlds was able to seize other objectives along the way not provided for in its role as cultural brokers association Mosaic, which was made available to follow some of the protagonists of the project in the path of bureaucratic institution a sports club and amateur cricket in the renewal of the statute of Tamil Piedmont. The desire is that the 'impact on the territory' becomes more and continuing through the dissemination of the video as a possible teaching tool to stimulate reflection on immigration issues, unencumbered by logic and do-gooders naively multiculturalist views sin in very critical (but certainly well represented in the panorama of events related to immigration issues), instead paying greater attention to the observation of concrete social practices and the conscious search for new spaces of coexistence.
